Today is the first day of our trip back to The Outer Hebrides.
Travelling in the Highlands and Islands of Scotland absolutely fills my heart. That overwhelming warm feeling that encompasses your whole being. Home. When I know that i’m going home. I’m like a kid at Christmas for lack of a better phrase. The anticipation gets me every time.
We left Aberdeen very early (well, Mcdonalds breakfast early) so that we could enjoy a full day in Inverness and Ullapool (and the obligatory stop at Brodie), before getting the evening CalMac ferry from Ullapool to Stornoway.
It was 18 degrees (I mention this 3 times.. in case you didn’t hear me!) which is madness for Scotland. It’s almost as good as you can hope for in these parts, Scotland isn’t known for its joyous weather, but when we have it, it’s glorious and these are the best parts of the country to enjoy it.
The weather certainly brightened my mood.
