It’s deceptively bright in these pictures. Although the sun was out, there was definitely a chill in the air (Perhaps from my unfortunate fashion disaster).
I was aware that this chill might be the case when visiting Riga so I made sure to pack tights to wear with my cute new Zara floral dress. I pictured this outfit in my head. A belt to cinch in the waist, black tights, a pair of converse and a leather jacket. Comfortable but cool. Easy to wear for exploring a new city but still on trend.
Anyway, it all went to pot. The belt was too big and the black tights, well it turns out that they were actually patterned tights that hadn’t been worn for YEARS. Tights that were cool back in 2011 and then pushed to the back of the drawer. I suppose waiting for that day that fashion inevitably swings back around.
So here I stand in a beautiful new city in a pretty new dress, that unfortunately made me look a little shapeless and rectangular, my throwback patterned tights and a pair of converse. It was just that little too cold to take the tights off. I really should have in hindsight. But you know what they say about hindsight..
There is nothing wrong with patterned tights, I don’t even hate that i’m wearing them. What I hate is that I am dressed like my 17 year old self, only 10+ years later. Oh, and to add insult to injury, I had also dyed the ends of my hair turquoise.
I am too old to pull this off.
That realisation is the real disaster.
