For those of us in Scotland that don’t live quite near an Ikea, Ikea Aberdeen is a big deal.
For so long we have waited for something like this, until now going to Ikea has always been a big day out..travelling down to Edinburgh or Glasgow and really making a day of it. We never had the luxury to just pop in and pick up a couple of bits and pieces, which leads to a lot of overbuying on my part when I do get to visit.
To people who are not from here and have an Ikea locally, I realise how funny that must seem but sadly, it’s true.
I thought you might like a sneak peak of the store as this doesn’t open until Thursday and it will give you a bit of an idea what to expect!
This is not your typical Ikea store, they do room set ups and you can buy things but it is not an Ikea store with the warehouse and vast shelving with stock.
*Tip – Open the drawers in the show rooms – There holds items to be bought that are in the room decoration*
It is a collection point of sorts – Like Argos. You can order online and collect from store.
The store is bigger than I expected and will be great for first time home owners. There is an abundance of lighting and storage which I always look out for.
They also have the infamous cafe – And some frozen goods if you so wish to take some meatballs home!
We were also told that the cafe sells a meatball sub which sounds great!
I think the store is primarily set for your bigger home jobs – Planning new kitchens etc but don’t let that put you off as there are lots of little pieces to be picked up.
Ikea Aberdeen is in Wellington Circle, next to Makro if you are planning on visiting.
What do you think?
Is it what you expected, are you looking forward to visiting?
