It’s not often I get excited about the launch of a product, especially a makeup brush cleaner (Ok, makeup brush cleansing palette.. that doesn’t roll off the tongue so easily) but I was genuinely excited for this!
A little bit of a backstory..I used to clean the brushes in the palm of my hand with some baby shampoo..or soap of some sort but I have those taps, old fashioned taps.. where hot is hot and cold is cold. There is no mixing of tepid water. So your hands would be burning, or freezing.
If you are anything like me, you store your weeks worth of brushes and tackle them in one go because it’s a chore, which isn’t quick, so this little product was already, in my eyes, a saviour.
I travelled store to store to find this, I don’t know if they hadn’t reached Aberdeen yet or if they were sold out due to the hype but I found 2 in Superdrug and quickly took it to the checkout.
These do retail at £12.99 which could seem pricey as i’m sure there are more affordable options on offer, but it seems a fair price to me as the Sigma alternative comes in at £30+.
I use a lot of Real Techniques brushes so I could vouch for the quality. In other words, I had similar expectations.
So if you don’t know, this is a little hand held (hand strap on the rear) silicone pad with multi-textured surfaces.
The different surfaces are for your different brush sizes and densities. You simply add a little of whatever you use to clean, a little water and swirl away.
It’s as simple as that and you don’t end up with pruney hands. Success!
Now that I have used this a fair few times, I won’t make out that the job is done any quicker. It still takes a lot of time to clean your brushes properly but it is important to do so, however, it does make it a lot less tasking. They also sell a gel cleaner to use alongside this product if you were looking for a set.
I think the size is so.. handy (no pun intended) It would easily fit in a makeup bag or holiday kit if you so needed it and I believe it is dishwasher safe, if you wanted to clean your cleaner?
